I’m Lauren Simpson—a wife of 20 years, a mom to two incredible teenagers (Sophie, 16 and Blake, 14), and the founder of Beyond Her Lens, LLC. Our family lives just outside the vibrant city of Nashville, Tennessee, but my journey has taken me across states, careers, and passions. At the intersection of it all? A deep love for creativity, purpose, and connection.
My professional path began in healthcare. I earned my doctorate in physical therapy and built a meaningful career caring for others, particularly the elderly. Helping people feel strong and supported has always been at the core of what I do.
But 17 years ago, another part of me began to bloom, the creative side. While living in Houston, Texas, I picked up a camera, taught myself photography, and launched a newborn photography business. It was more than a hobby; it became a new language for how I see the world. As my children grew, so did my skills behind the lens, shifting from portraiture to capturing our own family’s adventures, sports, and travels.
In 2018, after watching both my sister-in-law and mother-in-law face breast cancer, I felt called to do more with my physical therapy background. I created The Chrysalis Method, a post-surgical recovery program for women undergoing breast surgery—a population underserved in traditional rehab care. What began as a personal mission has now grown into an online platform and a forthcoming book that aims to empower women through healing, movement, and education.
Fast forward to today, and my lens has turned toward the beauty of travel—the kind that leaves an imprint long after the plane ride home. Beyond Her Lens was born out of my love for meaningful travel and the desire to bring a personal, artful touch to both how we journey and how we decorate our spaces. It all started with a trip to Yellowstone, where I photographed stunning landscapes to decorate my own home. A designer friend saw the potential and encouraged me to share these images with others. Now, my photography collections are available for designers and personal collectors looking to tell their own story through travel-inspired art.
Whether it's a luxury couples getaway to Cabo, a family retreat to Jackson Hole, or a design client looking for the perfect visual focal point, I approach each project with the same intention: to help people connect more deeply with their lives, their loved ones, and the world around them.
I’ve come to understand that travel isn’t a luxury, it’s a necessity. It's a way to reset, reconnect, and rediscover. A close friend once shared that in a decade of marriage, he had never taken a trip alone with his spouse, and it stuck with me. We owe it to ourselves and our relationships to explore, unwind, and be present. So whether you're planning a family adventure, a romantic escape, or simply seeking inspiration, I'm here to help you experience it fully—through travel, through photography, and through every meaningful detail in between.
With heart,
Lauren
